Darla & Thomas {Engagement}

A lucky man finds a good woman. A blessed man finds a good woman who loves to hunt, knows her way around a boat, owns her own bow (not for her hair!), and is as beautiful as Darla is.

Don't let Darla’s little white dress fool you. Even around here, she stands out with her willingness to stomp around the woods so beautifully dressed up. This fits in perfectly with Thomas, who is an avid hunter, outgoing and friendly, and as handsome as Darla is beautiful. He is so clearly in love with his future wife, so much so that he left the woods after seeing a big ole buck to make it to his engagement session...that's a kinda love you hold on to!

Together, Darla and Thomas are two of the most down to earth, honest, and friendly people I have met. Both of them have great laughs too. It's the kind of laugh that makes you so happy you can't help but laugh along with them. They have great stories about the woods and their land, both of which you can tell they love and feel most comfortable in. One of the best parts of their session was when I was walking Darla & Thomas through a location and describing to them what I had in mind. I was cautioning them to be aware of wildlife (specifically snakes) I knew would love to be where we were. Not only did they laugh off my warning, I think they might have been a little excited at the possibility of coming across a snake. We did manage to finish the session without snakes or any rain despite the heavy cloud cover.

Oh, and sticking to his guns (haha) Thomas insisted on breaking out his camouflage hat and shirt for part of the session because it best reflected who he is. Once he changed, Darla and I couldn't help but laugh because he was right! Not only was he more natural and relaxed, the contrast in his and her styles looked amazing behind the camera. Too bad I couldn't have busted out a gun and deer stand…

To Darla and Thomas, thank you so much for choosing me to photograph your wedding day. One of the best parts of my job is meeting wonderful people and you both are just that. I cannot wait until your wedding in December!
