Keels Family

The Keels family is one full of humor and good natured ribbing...several times I burst out laughing at them during the session. Those kind of sessions are the best! I met the Keels through baseball when our sons played together at Winthrop Park and getting together to photograph the family has been something we have talked about for such a long time. The rain had already postponed this session once. We were not going to let it happen again! So, even through we drove through some rain to our location, and even though radar showed heavy rain in a circle around us (as well as the black looming clouds overhead) I managed to complete a full session before the rain came! It has been years since they last took their family picture and I hope this is what they had in mind...there are so many great ones so these are just a few I fell in love with.

Life is Short {Personal}

They say life is short and to follow your dreams when you’re a kid. I wonder though…how many kids grow up and turn into adults who duck out of the picture for fear of what it will look like when it develops?

Bedonie, Ford, & Patterson Family {St. George Island}

Family is not an important thing. It's everything~Michael J. Fox

If not for the wild gusts of wind, this session would have been effortless! The weather was mild and very cool for a Sunday in August and the waves rolling along the shore line was an ideal session soundtrack. But...the wind was flat out crazy wild! The whole experience made for a lot of laughter with my clients and that is always the best way to spend a session.

I was smitten with the kids and how crazy adorable they were running to and from the water searching for treasures hidden in the shallows and sand. The grown-ups were great too of course...and if you know the Ford, Patterson or Bedonie family you know exactly what I am talking about. They are genuinely wonderful people full of optimism, compliments, and they all tell great stories. They're pretty good looking too ;) I'm sure their week at the beach was a vacation of a lifetime and one that the kids will remember forever.

PS. Ava's mommy, daddy, and brother joined everyone at the beach a couple of days after this session was scheduled...but I hope to link a future session back to this one soon with a full Bedonie family picture!

I love how close the cousins are...it's true what they say, cousins are your first best friend!

Suzette & Connice {Wedding}

Though short on time, I couldn't go another day without posting a blog for the ever wonderful Connice & Suzette West! This past Saturday, they exchanged vows in front of their closest family and friends and began their new life together. Reflecting back over my time spent with them I find there is one bible verse that seems to echo their faith and their way of life: "complete my joy by being of the same mind, having the same love, being in full accord and of one mind." Philippians 2:2 Wishing you both a lifetime of love and happiness!

Rachel {Maternity}

This maternity session was by far the closest I have ever come to shooting in the rain! I was fearful to cancel Rachel's session because I didn't know if we could reschedule before her baby came...so I was literally driving in the rain to get to the session. Willing it to stop must have worked because we had a good 40 minute break even though the clouds loomed over us threatening to break any moment!

Rachel was such a trooper, walking swiftly all around their gorgeous piece of property so that we could take advantage of the beautiful places on their land. The family picture below was actually taken in front of an old oak tree that they were married under. I love how the whole family looks like they are bursting with pride over the new little one before even meeting her. It was a great time, even when the rain chased us back inside!

Preston Twins {Baby}

All who would win joy, must share it; happiness was born a twin.  ~Lord Byron

Last week I was lucky enough to photograph the Preston Twins in their beautiful home. Their mommy and I talked before their session and planned for a laid back lifestyle session. I love these types of sessions because it takes the pressure off of the parents and the babies...and natural personalities can truly shine. Baby Lane is too cute when she blows bubbles and gazes around the room with curiosity. Baby William is too funny with his hilarious expressions and he is ALL boy with his love for being outside. Towards the end of the session we were able to pose the little munchkins but the real magic happened right here in their trendy nursery that their mommy created...
